Cheriella (チェリエラ, Cheriera) is a character in the Aozora's Adventure series.
Background[edit | edit source]
In an alternate dimension resides a highly fantasy-driven world themed after candy, pastries, and desserts. Almost all of its inhabitants are human-like with a constant candy-like scent and some kind of supernatural ability themed after sugar, and the various locations and landmarks are built and decorated to resemble a paradise full of sugary goods and delicacies.
One of its inhabitants is a cheerful young adult named Cheriella, born with a sweet scent of cherries and bubble gum inherited from her mother and father respectively, as well as bright pink bubblegum-scented hair curled up into two spiral-shaped twin tails. Her arms, waist, and legs are slim and elastic- being made of a strange, taffy-like substance that closely resembles skin.
Cheriella works at a small candy, yogurt, and smoothie cafe in her hometown run and maintained by her parents. She sticks around the shop working the counters and the register but is forbidden from hovering around too close to the various treats the shop sells, or else her irresistible appetite for sugar and sweets kicks in and she devours people’s orders whole. To keep her from going crazy for sweets, the workers offer her to taste test the different treats and desserts they receive to make sure they’re at a serviceable quality.
Cheriella has a secret background as a karaoke singer, having her bedroom configured into a recording studio and a small stage installed in the cafe for evening karaoke sessions.
Powers and Abilities[edit | edit source]
Despite Cheriella resembling a human at first glance, she is a variation known as a “Dessertian”- a candy-themed person with various abilities relating to sugar. She emits a scent of fresh cherries and bubble gum and has a slim, rubbery body structure. Her skin is flexible and can stretch out like taffy, including her arms, waist, and legs. As a result, her custom-made “Cherry Bomber” suit is made out of an extendable rubber-like material that maintains its form when Cheriella extends her body parts out and retracts. Similarly, Cheriella’s tongue is a sticky, taffy-like organ colored dark maroon red that is highly sensitive to different tastes, but is extendable and can be fired out to catch treats from a distance away. This technique requires buildup and a clean shot for Cheriella to use it reliably, and it puts a small bit of strain on her tongue if she shoots it a far distance or uses it several times in quick succession, making it a seldom-seen ability of hers.
Similar to those of her race, Cheriella can eat an extraordinarily large supply of sugary treats while maintaining her signature slim figure as her body processes sugar differently than a human’s would; converting the sugar into energy to keep herself at full strength.
Through unknown means, Cheriella’s hands and feet can expel a bubble gum-flavored candy liquid, passing through her gloves and her high-heel boots respectively. The substance is semi-adhesive and can be shot out as either a simple watery stream from her fingers or at greater volumes, up to a massive sugary blast erupting from both her hands at once- coating everything in front of her in a sticky pink mess. Cheriella can turn herself and her outfit partially or fully into hard or liquid candy to absorb or bounce back attacks, but she can only do this temporarily, or else she runs the risk of reshaping her own figure should she stay in candy form for too long.
By launching the high-pressure candy liquid from her boots, Cheriella can briefly launch herself into the air and fly, as well as boost her movement speed on the ground by activating the candy bursts in a rhythm in tune with her running. These actions require her to have a large supply of sugar energy in her body- without the proper amount, Cheriella is unable to produce candy from her body or shape herself into it.
