Hadangan (ハダンガン) is a character in the Aozora's Adventure series.
Background[edit | edit source]
Hadangan is a super soldier from Japan once employed as part of an elite squad of armored samurai. His motive for joining was his late grandfather being a trained samurai and his attempts to convince his son, Hadangan’s father, to continue the family tradition when he was alive ended in failure. His death, when Hadangan was a late teenager, drove Hadangan to consider taking up the mantle when his father wouldn’t, but he would put it to the side for several more years and take the time to polish his athleticism just incase.
A squad of heavily-armored men declaring themselves the Ginheishi entered Japan as part of a campaign to promote their personal troop of super-soldier swordfighters. While the tour was largely unsuccessful, an intrigued Hadangan approached in the middle of one of their street rallies and followed them back to their headquarters, prompting him to sign up several days later. As part of their troop, Hadangan was required to outfit himself with the Ginheishi’s trademark armor and equip one of their technologically advanced swords.
After months of familiarizing himself with the set, Hadangan’s then-recent interest in collecting and customizing shotguns drove him to modify his Ginheishi sword and armor in secret, adding chambers onto his sword’s hilt and the back of the armor’s boots. These modifications required him to fight differently from the other Ginheishi, breaking their tradition, coordination, and fighting style. Unable to revert the changes without spending considerable amounts of money, Hadangan was forced to disband from the Ginheishi, keeping the sword, armor, and other equipment. As he was not close to its founders and members, the disbandment didn’t phase him, and he continued to modify the armor and the sword, developing a new fighting style of his own as he tested the armor’s efficiency.
Wanting to escape his homeland, Hadangan took a trip to Europe alone, taking a temporary stay in England and bringing with him his Ginheishi equipment. During a lengthy walk, he lost focus on a crowded path and crashed into a large, burly man named Izifundo. When they got back up, Izifundo began to start small talk to lighten the mood as they recovered their belongings, despite Hadangan being uninterested. The two men, however, saw something in each other, as Hadangan had not had any social interaction to this extent since arriving in Great Britain and let Izifundo tag along for the rest of the evening under the condition that they don’t make each other look like fools in public. They visited a local pub and Izifundo introduced himself proper, telling him that he got “the sickest job I’ve ever worked for”.
