Mushiuto (ムシウト) is a character in the Aozora's Adventure series.
Background[edit | edit source]
Mushiuto hails from from a universe inhabited solely by arthropods, both normal and giant-sized. Due to the lack of natural predators, insects became the dominant lifeforms across the planet and the world is shaped to accommodate for their needs, resulting in a world filled and overrun with nature, normal and oversized, and the modern-era technology of the real world being next to nonexistent.
The only mammalian species to thrive amongst the insects were humans, and they did so by developing insectoid features in the past through various ancient procedures (otherwise, they would be seen as a threat by the larger arthropods) until every human remaining was a mesh of human and insect, or an "Insecman" as the term became. Mushiuto is a modern, present-day example of a beetle Insecmen.
Mushiuto commands a small colony of other teenage male beetle Insecmen at his hometown's high school, a big deal for him as they're the only beings he truly trusts on a personal level. Together they serve to defend the school's students from rival gangs in the district and maintain order in the neighborhood.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Mushiuto has a brash, tough, and snarky demeanor from being put into the position of a gang leader. He believes firmly in following rules whenever they be his own or those of superiors and has no qualms with falling back on physical violence and getting rough as long as he and his crew can get away with it.
While his routine as a powerful leader outweighs it, Mushiuto has a softer side stemming from his desire to protect weaker Insecmen and ally up with female Insecmen in fights with enemies. He also cannot resist good foods- his personal favorite being various types of large citrus fruits that grow from oversized trees in his world.
Powers and Abilities[edit | edit source]
Mushiuto has a green human-sized beetle shell that opens up to reveal fully functional insect wings to glide in the air with. Due to his size and not being fully developed, the wings are only strong enough to let Mushiuto fly upwards slowly without wind assistance, glide long distances, or create localized gusts of wind. If Mushiuto curls up, he can use the small amount of buoyancy in the beetle shell to bounce around solid surfaces and gain height.
Mushiuto's hair is made of thick and resilient brown strands, compacted and solidified into the shape of a large horn crossed with that of a pompadour. The sharp horn formed from Mushiuto's hair is dense and doesn't lose its shape over time, allowing it to be used as an offensive and defensive tool. To use the horn optimally, Mushiuto must move rapidly with his neck and body, combing physical blows with his fists with jabs and uppercuts with his horn. If enough wind is gathered under his shell from flapping his wings repeatedly, Mushiuto can lunge forwards for a flying stab attack.
Mushiuto keeps several ladybug-like creatures native to his world as pets. Known as Flying Shells, these are small winged beetles with dome-shaped shells colored similarly to a ladybug and sport primarily black bodies with thin black antennas. They are incapable of speech, unlike Insecmen, but can communicate with Mushiuto by causing vibrations in their wings and antennas.

- The kanji (虫) painted on Mushiuto's pants is the kanji for "insect".
