Suyeong (スヨン, Suyon) is a character in the Aozora's Adventure series.

Background[edit | edit source]

Suyeong grew up with a fascination of swimming and aquatics after his parents signed him up for swimming classes at a swimming school during his childhood. He would develop and hone his swimming skills gradually and thanks to his very competitive, high-energy, and fun-loving personality, create both friends and rivals he would continue to compete with and against years later as an adult. His strong commitment to becoming a top-class swimmer led to him usually outpacing all but one of the students in his first year. In subsequent years at the school, he would be among the swimming classes’ top students.

In his teenage years, Suyeong visited local beaches in his home country to continue to train and build the friendships he made in swimming school. It is here at these beaches where he would rediscover an ability he had since childhood: Psammokinesis, the ability to control sand, which he used to build large sandcastles and other structures out of sand when his parents brought him to the beaches in the summer. As a teenager, he was able to use the ability more effectively, discovering its potential and means of using it for self-defense.

Suyeong continued to gain recognition from his strong swimming skills and his ever-expanding sand-manipulation abilities, placing high and winning in many local swimming competitions and building various structures made of compressed sand across the beaches in the region. For a brief moment before the wider public would discover his abilities, he would create cryptic structures of sand after the beach’s closing at dusk to spread a riddle amongst the country’s residents but would cease the action quickly once word got out that he was the one creating the structures.

Eventually at the age of 23, Suyeong would gain a minor celebrity status as a result of his rising popularity in the water athletic scene and the increasingly elaborate sand structures he would build, propelling him into making a deal with a TV studio in South Korea that would let him conceptualize any type of show of his choosing to broadcast on live TV. With inspiration from his own past, he would create a gameshow based around water athletics and competitions with himself and two of his best friends as the hosts. The set built for the show was designed entirely by them- with the intent of creating a fun and vibrant environment with high-energy competitions revolving around water that could be enjoyed by everyone. The show would be titled “Aquatic Champion's Castle” (수상 챔피언의 성, Susang Chaempieon-ui Seong)” and many people from South Korea would gather around to participate.
