Monty (モンティ, Monti), is a character in the Aozora's Adventure series.

Background[edit | edit source]

Monty is a child living with his father, mother, and his teenage older sister in an apartment building in New York City. Unknown to his family, his bed’s mattress was created with a mythical fabric. At night, it spawns a portal under his bed leading into a dimension where fabric, quilts, mattresses, and oversized children’s toys (presumably, those that Monty had discarded in his younger years before attempting to be more "cool") make up most of the landscape. Scattered about the fields are stacked cardboard boxes with wooden planks jammed in to make spiral staircases. This world is overrun by large, big nosed and big-mouthed creatures with stubby arms, legs, and thick, brightly colored fur.

Being the first human in a long time to enter this world of monsters, the creatures were, surprisingly, overly welcoming to Monty, presumably due to his bright and colorful outfit that matched the atmosphere of their world and their abnormal, bright fur colors. They huddled around Monty, appearing to cheer for him, only for Monty to react to the monsters in confusion. The monsters dragged him around on a tour of their world, apparently being able to understand Monty’s speech despite only being able to communicate back in growls.

Soon, the monsters led Monty to a small altar with a ring containing a mysterious magenta-colored gemstone embedded inside. Monty gazed at the ring and slid it onto his index finger, causing it to glow. The monsters, unable to wear the ring themselves, stepped back as the ring’s powers activated. Trying to figure out the ring’s abilities for himself, Monty began fiddling with the ring and making hand gestures until a small wooden house resembling a doghouse spawned in the sky and dropped, causing it to break apart and a monster- much like the ones crowded around Monty, to spawn instantly. Monty continued testing the ring’s effects, spawning even more monsters. Finally discovering the secret of the ring, the monsters cheered for Monty while he was guided back to the real world.

Powers and Abilities[edit | edit source]

As Monty is very young and hasn’t fully developed, his physical combat skills, while passable, are not up to par with many of the older fighters he meets. He prefers all-out combat, ambushing and and striking his target as many times as possible, not taking into account any form of surprise attack or evasive maneuver Monty’s target may perform.

Using the powers of the ring in his possession, Monty can conjure up a small structure known as a “Monster House” at will, which instantly self-constructs itself and bursts open afterwards, revealing one of the monsters Monty befriended. These monsters fight on Monty’s behalf, being sent in to slam into and chomp down targets with their bodies and fangs respectively.
