Sentarou (千太郎, Sentarō) is a character in the Aozora's Adventure series.

Background[edit | edit source]

Sentarou is a genetically-altered teenager from Japan. At the age of 10, his school would be invaded and attacked by a gang of monsters and humanoid soldiers of extraterrestrial origin. While the school was evacuated until outside forces arrived for the counterattack, Sentarou was still trapped inside the school. He attempted to fight back, but as he was powerless to stop them, the monsters cornered and captured him, teleporting him away from the school to their own personal secret base.

Sentarou was taken in as a test subject by the monsters with the intent of turning him into a super-powered child soldier with no thoughts of his past. They subjected him to various experiments, including exposing him to a substance of their creation that would give him the ability to charge and cast electricity. They attempted to attach Sentarou into other mechanisms for further tests, only for him to break free in an enraged panic and use his newfound superpower to incapacitate his captors, damage most of their equipment beyond repair, and steal all the equipment he could carry. The destruction would cause smoke to fill the dimly-lit hallways of the base and force Sentarou to flee, leaving most of the monsters incapacitated or badly wounded. By the time authorities were alerted and entered the base to investigate, Sentarou had fled into the nearby woods to avoid drawing attention to him.

The equipment Sentarou had taken, including gloves, a belt, and a pair of boots, did not fit his frame, forcing him to keep the equipment stored away and a secret from his friends and family. Years later, towards the end of high school, Sentarou took out the equipment and strapped it on, to no effect. In an attempt to get a response out of the belt, he went to an isolated field far from his home and released large amounts of electricity from his body in an attempt to get a response from the belt, causing the lighting symbol on the crest of the belt to shine brightly. As Sentarou continued to release electricity, pieces of armor grew and folded out from the gloves and boots, enhancing their appearances. More armor would grow over his limbs and upper body, climbing up to his head and concealing it inside a stylized metallic helmet. Sentarou felt an adrenaline rush once the armor was forged, having more complete control over his lightning and his movement speed accelerating to levels he was not used to.

Sentarou’s first experience with the armor did not last for long and resulted in unintended collateral damage. He uncontrollably ran through dense traffic and caused several ruptured power lines in a nearby city. Sentarou would ultimately go undetected as he moved too fast to be captured on camera, but the carnage would end with him wiping out outside his own home. Sentarou's mother, paying attention to a news forecast that was being broadcast live on television, was able to put the pieces together and see that it was her own son that caused the damage, and in an effort to prevent any more damage, dragged Sentarou's unconscious and de-powered body inside. After waking and realizing the damage he caused, Sentarou would remove the gloves, shoes, and belt, and store them away for several years to allow the public to forget the incident of the “Blue Thunder” and avoid paying large sums of yen in damage. Sentarou would re-obtain his powered gear while moving out of his parents’ home and entering college, using the greater independence to train himself, work a job at a convince store, and hang around with a small group of buddies he knew since high school.

Powers and Abilities[edit | edit source]

In casual mode, Sentarou has access to relatively weak lighting powers. As his suit harnesses a greater amount of electricity, attempting to use too much without transforming first will shoot the electricity out erratically, possibly causing unintentional damage or harm, or even strain Sentarou himself. Even without transforming, Sentarou can exhibit mild levels of super strength and wears gloves and boots that resemble their transformed state to access some of their properties without needing to transform.

Once Sentarou transforms and enters his suit, his powers and physical capabilities improve greatly, giving him stronger electrical attacks and much faster mobility. Sentarou can charge his fists or his feet with electricity and launch an electric-powered punch or kick, using any stored electricity to extend the reach of his strikes. When attacking on the ground, Sentarou can boost himself along the ground for a lunging attack, leaving behind a trail of static electricity. Charging in mid air, however, gives him the ability to launch a powerful kick from high altitudes that increases his gravity and sends a large shockwave outwards from where he lands.

Sentarou’s signature ability is the “Voltaic Field”, a shield of electricity cast from the center of his suit. This shield destroys most projectiles aimed at him and shocks anything from within, dealing more power to anyone he “tags” beforehand with an electrically charged punch or kick. Sentarou can produce glowing shards of lighting from one or both of his hands that he uses as makeshift daggers. The shards are shorter in length in their dual state but combine into a larger blade when focused to one hand. The lightning shards, both of the single and dual-wielding variety, are not as strong as Sentarou’s electrically-charged melee strikes, but are a much quicker attack and require no charging.
